Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Free

When: Sat., Sept. 20 2008

The city says it collected 75,000 pounds of electronics and 20,000 prescription pills at its first collection day in April. Participants can drop off computers, keyboards, scanners, cell phones, fax machines, batteries, prescription and nonprescription meds, paints, solvents, gas cans, and gas-powered lawn mowers. In return you get a free compact flourescent light bulb, and Chicago residents get a chance to pick up a compost bin for $30 or a rain barrel for $40, while supplies last.
