Human Beatbox Yuri Lane

When: Sun., Aug. 15, 7 p.m. 2010

Human Beatbox Yuri Lane was raised in Haight-Ashbury and learned rhythm by osmosis and quickly learned to incorporate urban rhythms into his daily life. He discovered his true passion in sixth grade math class, where Yuri made sounds to compensate for his lack of skill in arithmetic. When his teacher ordered him to "turn off the radio," Yuri knew that he was on to something. His one-man human beatbox musicals, "Soundtrack City," "From Tel Aviv to Ramallah," Harmonica Beatboxing and improvisations have made him a favorite among audiences in Chicago and across the nation.
