If I Didn't Care

Shot mostly in the Hamptons, which is home to writer-directors Ben and Orson Cummings, this forgettable noir reruns Double Indemnity with the genders reversed: a miserable husband (Bill Sage) talks his mistress (Susie Misner) into offing his rich wife, then squirms under the suspicion of an avuncular detective (Roy Scheider). I've never been to the Hamptons—we summer in Albany Park, you know—but aside from the couple's swank home, they make for a surprisingly drab locale. 75 min.
