IGLU : Improvisation Group of Lawrence University

When: Fri., March 26, 8 p.m. 2010

IGLU, Improvisation Group of Lawrence University (Appleton, WI), challenges, enthralls and entertains audiences with their free improvisations. Since 2007, John Mayrose, performer and composer in residence, has led this eclectic group to new heights. The instrumentation as well as the style of this groups is extremely varied, and often times rehearsals are treated as composers' experimentation for sound. IGLU's repertoire includes pieces by composers such as Rzewski, Riley, and Oliveros, in addition to their completely spontaneous improvisations. In the past, they have collaborated with artists such as Stuart Dempster and Pulsoptional. In their most recent concert, a multidisciplinary collaboration led to the performance of new music on instruments created by visual artists. For this special night IGLU will be interpreting pieces from Fill in the Blank Galleries' current Exhibition: Collection
