I'm Looking for You

A sad sack's efforts to win the heart of a gorgeous singer by forming a salsa band are seen through the eyes of his five-year-old nephew, who somehow ends up on the road with the band. This 2002 Colombian film directed by Ricardo Coral Dorado is billed as a comedy but wavers between melancholy and sentimentality (“The only dream we never lose is the dream of being happy”). Though it drags intermittently and skimps on the romance it promises, the lighter moments are pleasant. To be shown in projected Beta video, which does nothing to help the muddy image quality. In Spanish with subtitles. 90 min.
