Immortal | Chicago Reader

In this 2004 stinker, set in 2095, one of the gods who created the world is about to be punished by death and visits New York hoping to impregnate a woman using the body of a political dissident who just fell out of a jail that floats in the sky. There are also some serial killings and the woman's obscure story. The backgrounds and most of the characters are computer created, though the ideas seem filched from earlier films—Q, Metropolis, Blade Runner. The director, graphic novelist Enki Bilal, offers some spiffy imagery, but this is a poorly edited succession of pictures, not a movie. 99 min.
