In Pursuit The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Sept. 11 2011

When a pair of genderless blue aliens apply for an intergalactic green card so they can settle down in Wisconsin, their biggest concerns are getting the house ready for a federal inspection and filling out the Byzantine paperwork. That's until a rambunctious "podmate" (it's a familial term, apparently) shows up with a bound earthling in tow. Breahan Pautsch's new play is a lighthearted mix of social satire, farce, and murder mystery, competently staged by Hobo Junction. There's nothing new in the shots Pautsch takes at marital inequality and government bureaucracy. But Richard Paro's peppy direction keeps this comic souffle from collapsing. As a special agent, Travis Barnhart quietly performs a bit of endurance art, eating about 15 deviled eggs over the course of the one-hour show. --Keith Griffith
