Northlight Theatre joins several other nonprofit theaters around the country (including the Goodman, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 16th Street Theater,and Columbia College Chicago's theater department, with this free livestream of a radio play based on Sinclair Lewis's 1935 semi-satirical novel, in which a demagogue becomes president of the United States by promising a return to greatness. The stage show was originally produced in 2016 at California's Berkeley Rep. David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), who originated the role of liberal journalist Doremus Jessup in that production, returns for this version, again directed by Lisa Peterson and reimagined as a four-part radio play, with a post-show Q & A session. It premieres on Tuesday, October 13, and will be available on demand through November 8.
