It's a Wonderful Life: Live at the Biograph Recommended The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 31 2011

This lively, 90-minute stage version of Frank Capra's classic movie is just as cozy and good-natured as the milk and cookies American Blues Theater serves afterward. Announcer Michael Mahler provides piano accompaniment for the radio broadcast-style adaptation and sets the tone for the show's interactive spirit, represented by messages from the audience, shout-outs to local businesses, and a Christmas-themed sing-along. Marty Higginbotham's versatile cast includes Kevin Kelly as George Bailey, the despondent home builder originated onscreen by Jimmy Stewart, and John Mohrlein, who makes the most of the radio format as both angel-in-training Clarence and the villainous Mr. Potter. —Dan Jakes
