It's Not a Gun

Ramzi Aburedwan, who was raised in a Palestinian refugee camp near Ramallah and spent his childhood “throwing stones,” gives concerts and teaches Palestinian children music, pleased when their drawings of tanks now include violins. Bach gets played in front of the separation wall, and class is canceled when the teachers can't get through a checkpoint in time, but Aburedwan does found a music school. Helena Cotinier and Pierre-Nicolas Durand's 2006 rambling video lacks focus, and cutaways to cute smiling children are shamefully trite. In Arabic with subtitles. 67 min.
