Martin Short, encased in prosthetic blubber, reprises the character of unctuous celebrity journalist Jiminy Glick from his Comedy Central show Primetime Glick. Like the show, this Canadian feature isn't really a satire of Hollywood so much as a chance for Short's wealthy showbiz buddies (Steve Martin, Kurt Russell, Kevin Kline, Whoopi Goldberg) to poke very gentle fun at themselves and stick it to the press. Glick and his equally repulsive wife (Jan Hooks) show up at the Toronto film festival and get involved in a murder mystery too feeble to recount; the sole bright spot is John Michael Higgins as a vulgar manager named Andre Divine. With Elizabeth Perkins, Linda Cardellini, and Janeane Garofalo. Vadim Jean directed. R, 90 min.
