The Haymarket Labor Forum hosts: A conversation about Afghanistan, the cost of war and its impact on the Obama domestic agenda. Join the discussion about the history and complex present day situation in Afghanistan and Central Asian region, and solutions for ending the war and US military occupation. How can we build the movement to reduce military spending which threatens the Obama domestic agenda, and redirect it to urgently help economically distressed working class communities? Speakers: · Dr. Zalmay Gulzad, born in Afghanistan, teaches Political Science and Economics at Harold Washington Community College. Dr. Gulzad is an expert on Afghanistan and the region and author of the book, "External Influences and the Development of the Afghan State in the Nineteenth Century". · Terry Davis, Steering Committee, U.S. Labor Against War (for identification purposes only) Refreshments and snacks at 7pm.
