A liberal's hallucination of hard-hat America, John Avildsen's independent film became a freak hit thanks to the political paranoia (much of it justified) that reigned in 1970. It's a heavy, unconvincing piece about an apelike construction worker (Peter Boyle) who blackmails an executive (Dennis Patrick) into joining him in an armed raid on a hippie commune. Haven't seen it since it came out, but I'm sure it's dated grotesquely. With Susan Sarandon and Patrick McDermott.
