In its downtown debut Chicago's newest ballet troupe offers a little something for everyone. For fans of Gerald Arpino, the artistic director, there are three of his classic works; for Chicago chauvinists, revivals of two works by Randy Duncan, former artistic director of the now-defunct Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre. For fans of women there's the new Legends, featuring choreography from Ann Reinking, Sherry Zunker-Dow, Margo Sappington, Ann Marie DeAngelo, and Joanna Haigood to the singing of Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lena Horne, Bette Midler, and Edith Piaf. For fans of the multicultural experience there's Nuestros Valses, by Vicente Nebrada of the Ballet National de Caracas; and for fans of classical dance, Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux. For fans of modern-dance classics there are two works by Laura Dean, Structure and her section from Billboards, "Sometimes It Snows in April." And for those who really don't much like dance, there's Mehmet Sander's InnerSpace, which features three dancers clambering around inside a Plexiglas cube. Maybe stage lighting and costumes will make it look like fun--it certainly didn't look fun in rehearsal. See listing for detailed information about programs and times. Thursday, May 23, through Sunday, June 2: Tuesday-Saturday at 8, Saturday matinees at 2, Sunday matinees at 3. At the Shubert Theatre, 22 W. Monroe; $10-$45. Call 831-2822 for tickets, 977-1710 for information on group sales. --Laura Molzahn
