Jump Tomorrow

Hurtling toward Niagara Falls, the capital of romance and suicide, a groom-to-be and a jilted lover pair up for a buddy movie, road movie, and romantic comedy in which the emotional tones are as varied and intriguing as the decorative schemes in the theme rooms of a hotel they visit along the way. Gerard, a manipulative leech with a good heart, decides his loss ought to be the gain of his shy companion, George, whose upcoming arranged marriage fills him with a sense of duty but little enthusiasm. The diversions and digressions in their journey—romantic, spiritual, and geographic—are the point of this transcendently kitschy, trippingly funny fairy tale, which has a surprising amount of psychological insight and a dance number to die for. Written and directed by Joel Hopkins; with Tunde Adebimpe and Hippolyte Girardot. 96 min.
