Just Like Heaven

Persnickety doctor Reese Witherspoon dies in a car crash and winds up haunting depressed slob Mark Ruffalo, who's subletting her old apartment. As a movie genre, the ghostly romantic comedy dates back at least as far as Topper (1937), and the stale premise, combined with the leads' typecasting, makes for an eminently forgettable date movie. Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday) directed; with Donal Logue and Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite). PG-13, 95 min.
