Karate and Don Tremendous

When: Thursdays. Continues through July 30 2009

Second City touring company member Michael Lehrer stars in Karate, a solo improv-sketch hybrid centered on an orphan who's raised by a sensei and hunted by a creepy cop. Decked out in full karate attire, Lehrer improvises much of each melodramatic "episode," drawing heavily from bad fight movies like Roadhouse and Bloodsport. This isn't Lehrer at his best, but he's still a singular presence onstage, exuding pathos and charisma. The second half of this double bill, Don Tremendous, is an improv team comprising three Second City ETC players. --Ryan Hubbard
