Given his technical chops and taste for experimentation, LA-based producer Kingdom could easily have ended up making pretentious, anhedonic "intelligent dance music," but luckily he also has a serious sweet tooth, so even his twitchiest, most far-out compositions have hooks. He has a long-standing relationship with London's cultishly adored Night Slugs crew, a group that's helped coax the underground dance scene out of its chilly dubstep phase and into something warmer and more organic, and some of his relatively recent remixes and collaborations—with electro-poppers Mirror Mirror and R&B singer Naomi Allen—are the kind of futuristic pop bangers that Timbaland probably wishes he could still make. —Miles Raymer Sparkletone and Bizzies B2B Guidry open.
