Kung Fu & Sh*t! The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Saturdays. Continues through April 26 2014

They got one of the terms right in the title, and Kung Fu isn't it. This sketch show is like getting hit on by a tenacious drunk. It resorts to misogyny, blatant stereotypes, uncool 90s references, and ten painfully long minutes during which the show's writer/director, Andrew McCammon, reads from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. No one is safe. Wives complain about their mothers, men make lewd gestures at everyone, and an orgy with a lemon results in two women getting—you guessed it—"lemon AIDS." Patrick McDonald gives a subtle performance, but it's mostly drowned out by too-loud sound design and the other actors' voices. At one point, the sound girl stops the show and asks everyone to move it along. We feel your pain, sound girl. —Chloe Riley
