La Mujer de Mi Hermano | Chicago Reader

La Mujer de Mi Hermano

This risible Mexican soap opera is the first release from Lions Gate Entertainment's new Latino subsidiary, Panamax Films. Telenovela star Barbara Mori plays a woman whose rich but uptight husband (Christian Meier) can't get her pregnant because he's too caught up in the family business; yearning for love and bodice-ripping sex, she strays with her black-sheep brother-in-law, a throbbing artiste (Manolo Cardona). Despite the lowbrow story, this is supposed to be tasteful; expect modest nudity, swelling strings, and plenty of water imagery. Ricardo de Montreuil directed. In Spanish with subtitles. R, 93 min.
