Little White Lies

Rated NR 154 minutes 2010

Lifelong friends embark on their annual beach vacation in the south of France even as one of their little group (Jean Dujardin) lies dying in a hospital; this uncomfortable situation makes everyone tense, and their getaway dissolves into quarreling. Writer-director Guillaume Canet showed some real chops with his 2006 thriller Tell No One, but this 2010 drama lacks personality. Its nostalgia and complacency may remind you of The Big Chill, and aside from some stunning landscapes, its mise-en-scene is completely stagnant. With Francois Cluzet and Marion Cotillard.
