Bar Details

The history of Lottie's is far more interesting than the bar in its current incarnation: it was opened in 1934 by Lottie Zagorski, a transvestite who, according to the bar's website, ran a strip club, poker games, and off-track betting from its basement and was later arrested for hosting a booking den. Today, Lottie's is a sports bar with a decent tap lineup that feels oddly like it belongs in rural Michigan rather than on a side street of a trendy neighborhood—but the Bucktown bros that tend to frequent it will remind you where you are if you forget. —Julia Thiel
