Kate (Famke Janssen) is a self-proclaimed neurotic obsessed with death, and her favorite version of Nosferatu figures ostentatiously in this failed romantic comedy about her mostly failed romances. (The morbidity of the character, a pale Woody Allen replica, is funny only because it's unpersuasive.) She's frustrated because the features she writes for a women's magazine are required to have a positive outlook on courtship—an attitude she's grown weary of faking. As if her sardonic reminiscences were the beginnings of a new piece, they're shown in flashbacks linked by Janssen's voice-over in a desperate attempt to make them add up to a story. Written and directed by Valerie Breiman; with Jon Favreau. 82 min.
