Though it's won several festival awards, this 2000 video is less the thoughtful exploration of family dynamics it aspires to be than an intermittently interesting home video. Hoping to unite his siblings after the death of their Holocaust-survivor parents, director David Fisher enlists their help in searching for a sister who disappeared just after birth: did she die, as hospital records indicate, or were the papers altered to conceal a secret adoption? There's nothing particularly unusual about the family history—the parents rarely discussed their wartime ordeals and one son is mentally troubled. Still, some interesting details emerge: the father acquired his lifelong interest in maintaining a muscular build in a camp where the weak were murdered. In Hebrew with subtitles. 90 min.
