Fried chicken comes off the secret menu at this crowded Rush Street bar from the brains behind Gibsons.
Luxbar is first and foremost a Rush Street bar: flat-screen TVs, gleaming wood, pretty—no, check that, very pretty—waitresses, and efficient, serious bartenders dispensing drinks to aspiring Gordon Gekkos. Surprisingly, though, along with the sizzle there's steak—or more accurately, buttermilk fried chicken. Luxbar's version (once a secret menu item at parent Gibsons) is moist, with tender flesh and a crisp and greaseless crust. Other options include a a tasty Kobe (actually Wagyu) beef burger or slider. Our visit midweek was very pleasant noise- and crowdwise, though after 8 PM, even on a Wednesday—well, as my friend put it, "Funny how at a certain hour Rush Street becomes Rush Street."
