Magical Exploding Boy Recommended The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: July 30-31 and Aug. 6-7 2010

One of Chicago's masters of physical theater presents a series of kaleidoscopic visual narratives in this delightful one-man show. Dean Evans's collection of sketches might be best described as puppetry, except that various parts of his own body play the marionettes as he goes on a disastrous date with his left arm and directs his feet in a nimble dance to the strains of Daft Punk. Eschewing greasepaint and overblown slapstick, Evans brings a subtle touch to his clowning and transmits fully-fleshed characters more effectively than many actors do even with their mouths full of words, words, words. --Keith Griffith
