Manchester Orchestra, White Denim, Dear Hunter All Ages Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Soundboard

When: Mon., Nov. 7, 6 p.m. 2011

Austin outfit White Denim broke out with an irresistible style too hyperactive to be coherent; they jump-started their career with a 2007 EP, Let's Talk About It, that sounds like somebody chopped up punk, funk, Top 40 pop-rock, and noise, then glued it all haphazardly together with lots of cowbell. These days White Denim are frenetic in their output too—this year they released the full-length D and the new Takes Place in Your Work Space EP (both for Downtown), plus the Live at Third Man EP for Jack White's label. They've apparently been taking cues from the classic-rock stylings that are now at the forefront of their music; they're relaxing, leaning back, and unloading plenty of hazy, raga-style guitar, though they've hardly lost the messiness and flamboyance of their early material. —Leor Galil The Manchester Orchestra headlines; White Denim and the Dear Hunter open.
