Manpower

Whenever Warner Brothers was strapped for an action script, they remade Howard Hawks's 1932 Tiger Shark, about a tuna-boat captain who marries a girl with a shady past, only to find her falling in love with his best friend. This 1941 film is probably the best of the many subsequent versions; it features the same star, Edward G. Robinson, although this time he's a rigger of high tension lines, his best friend is George Raft, and the shady lady is Marlene Dietrich. Raoul Walsh directed, with his usual flair for roughhouse affection and blue-collar ribaldry. With Alan Hale, Walter Catlett, Frank McHugh, and Eve Arden.
