Many Roads Taken: Eliza K. Thomas

Eliza Kabacoff Thomas is an Austin-based artist. Thomas attended Columbia University’s Barnard College in New York City, where she studied Medieval Italian poetry and art history, earning a B.A. in 1996, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. As an artist, Thomas received her training privately, at the Parsons School of Design, and primarily at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. She spent the winter of 2005 in Provence, France as an artist-in-residence, which marked the beginning of her commitment to painting. More recently, Thomas was invited to participate as a resident artist at the Vermont Studio Center during the Center’s 2008 winter sessions. Galleries that have featured her work include Wally Workman Gallery in Austin, TX; Grand Contemporary in Lafayette, LA; and Guthrie Contemporary in New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX.
