Matt Pryor, Kevin Devine Early Warnings (Music) Soundboard

When: Fri., Sept. 12, 7 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 13, 10 p.m. 2008

It’s not as if Matt Pryor doesn’t already get plenty of time in the spotlight as front man of the New Amsterdams and its kiddie-band alter ego, the Terrible Twos, but apparently he’s always wanted to perform alone and have, as he puts it, “my little folk moment.” His solo debut, Confidence Man (Vagrant), includes a few acoustic versions of previously recorded songs like “Dear Lover” and a lot of new songs that just sound like acoustic versions of old ones. Pryor is as confessional here as he was a decade ago with the Get Up Kids, but his lyrics only seem revelatory in small doses. Mostly he just comes off like one of those “nice guys” who bitches about how women always go for the bad boys. Friday night's concert is all-ages, Saturday's 21 and up. The Terrible Twos also play an all-ages show at 3 PM on Saturday. —Monica Kendrick
