Me and My White Pal

An African doctoral student, facing eviction from his Paris flat, finds a job as a parking garage attendant and discovers a subterranean world of drugs and prostitution; after stealing an envelope of money and cocaine from a pair of dealers, he flees to his native Burkina Faso with a white coworker (Pierre-Loup Rajot). Pierre Yameogo wrote and directed this low-key comedy drama (2003), an amiable buddy picture despite its occasional editing gaffes. In French and Arabic with subtitles. 90 min.
