In this absurdist comedy from Iran, four upscale professionals returning to Tehran from a ski trip come across a monolith by the side of a mountain road and, simply because it's there, resolve to push it over. These sophisticated middle-aged men become nearly demented in their quest, overpaying for the donkey of a passing farmer, felling a lone tree, and nearly wrecking their SUV. Despite the slender premise—this might have made a stronger short—the drama builds to a satisfying payoff. Mani Haghighi directed his own script, based on an idea by Abbas Kiarostami. In Farsi with subtitles. 74 min.
