Men in War

Director Anthony Mann brings a noirish sense of a world in constant upheaval to this routinely written Korean war story (1957). The threat seems to come not so much from the unseen enemy as from the landscape itself, made mystically hostile to human occupation; it picks up the psychological tensions of the men on patrol (Aldo Ray, Robert Ryan, Robert Keith) and returns them as landslides, explosions, and impassable mountain ranges. With Vic Morrow, Scott Marlowe, and James Edwards.
