MeTube Closing (Theater and Galleries) Member Picks The Short List (Theater)

When: Fridays-Sundays. Continues through April 8 2012

n 2007, Yuri Lane made it big on YouTube with a video of his beatboxing and playing the harmonica at the same time—no small feat. Lane's new show, MeTube, wonders what one does after becoming Internet famous, probably an important story to tell these days; unfortunately, this saga begins at act three, just as the video hits it big, and splutters through the ensuing perks and ad pitches. I don't know if it's the boring songs about wanting to be famous on YouTube, Lane's distracting beef with his video-projected ego, the nature of the Internet itself, or the fact that we don't know anything about Lane, but this feels like a small fish from the outset. In a clever-enough sign of maturity, the program notes suggest taking footage of the show, and while I'd prefer it if MeTube were a YouTube video itself, nothing compelled me to unlock my phone. —Asher Klein
