Milemarker, Sweet Cobra, Canadian Rifle Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Soundboard

When: Fri., March 13, 10 p.m. 2009

The genius thing about Milemarker is their judo-style ability to flip adversity into inspiration. Al Burian, Dave Laney, and Noah Leger, the three remaining members of the group’s popular late-90s incarnation, have held it together through circumstances that’ve shaken many bands to pieces: lineups constantly changing, members moving across the country or across an ocean, crossover success dangling inches out of reach. Their fluid identity must help—the band that built an unlikely indie-rock fan base with synth-heavy prog-core nearly ten years ago isn’t even the same people as the band that was pumping out dark-as-fuck metallic psych on Ominosity in 2005. Milemarker’s latest form is a repeat of one of its first lineups: a four-piece with Burian, Laney, Leger, and long-ago member Ben Davis, dedicated to tighter, more straight-ahead hardcore.
