When: Sat., Feb. 20, 8 p.m. 2010

The multimedia event Pictures and Sounds, a joint venture between WHPK (88.5 FM) and the University of Chicago’s Film Studies Center, has midwestern noise musicians improvise soundtracks to new video work and "classics of silent, experimental, and outsider film." Among the performers are Cleveland’s Mist (accompaning experimental animation by Norman McLaren); Detroit improvisers Trauma and Nate Wooley (“articulating the contours of Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty”) and Dog Lady (film TBD); and Chicago’s Brett Naucke (with video made for the occasion by another local, Nate Young).
