Moll Flanders | Chicago Reader

Moll Flanders

Another movie version of Daniel Defoe's novel, this one starring Robin Wright as the impoverished heroine who survives early-18th-century London thanks to her resourcefulness and determination. (The 1965 version starred Kim Novak.) The writer-director is Pen Densham, who says the film wasn't so much adapted from Defoe's book as simply inspired by its title character. The costars include Morgan Freeman, Stockard Channing, John Lynch, and Brenda Fricker.
