Dear Chicago Reader:

I am writing in response to comments made by Bill Wyman in his August 25, 1995, Hitsville column regarding Jerry Garcia's private life. It seems that Mr. Wyman needs to rely on inflammatory conjecture and editorialism to cover for his shortcomings as a critical journalist. It doesn't take much in the way of balls to take cheap shots at a dead person.

Jerry Garcia's life and music brought unimaginable joy and inspiration to millions of people--he will be missed. Bill Wyman's vacuous, less-than-insightful, mudslinging dreck will be forgotten.
