Michael Solot's review in the June 2, 2000, Reader of John Colapinto's book As Nature Raised Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl was riveting. There was however a similar article in the Saturday, May 13, 2000, issue of the Chicago Sun-Times by Seth Hettena of the Associated Press titled "Study: Gender identity established before birth." In that article, Seth Hettena referenced a Canadian study which mentioned "that a boy who was raised as a girl after his penis was mutilated during circumcision continued to live as a woman." Assuming that this is the same person as David Reimer, it's nice to know that he indeed has not "continued to live as a woman" and also resisted all attempts to raise him as a woman. It's one thing for an adult to willingly choose a gender change, but to force this on an infant is barbaric.
