Oak Park Thai restaurant.
New Pot is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the compact neighborhood Thai restaurant: it's large, bright, and somewhat stark, with the cooks working in full view of patrons. Employees are friendly, though our waiter could have been more attentive. The food is high quality, well prepared, and decently portioned, if not exotic or innovative. The lumpia petite rolls were crisp, with a delicate, savory filling, and the citrusy calamari salad was exceptional: tender, flavorful squid complemented perfectly by ginger, onions, and cellophane noodles, among other ingredients. My red curry duck lacked spice, but the pad thai was better than that served in most places, and the lard nar was enthusiastically endorsed by my 13-year-old son, who has some experience in these matters.
