Next Day Air

Tone-deaf haters have tagged this idiosyncratic crime comedy a Tarantino or Guy Ritchie knockoff, but a better comparison would be last year's underappreciated In Bruges. A cannabis-addled Philadelphia delivery man (Donald Faison) misroutes a payload of coke to two brain-dead petty thugs (Mike Epps and Wood Harris) who can't believe their luck. Violent farcical mayhem cascades through the Philly underworld when the sender and intended recipient come looking for their missing bricks. Director Benny Boom and screenwriter Blair Cobbs pull off the tough trick of investing profoundly stupid characters with humanity, while cinematographer David Armstrong plays gleefully with the grime-o-vision palette of ?70s blaxploitation flicks. 90 min.
