When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Nov. 8 2020
Invictus Theatre Company presents a live virtual production of Marsha Norman's 1983 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, which unfolds in real time as Jessie, a chronically depressed woman, tells her mother, Thelma, that she plans to end her life that evening. Diane Sintich directs, with Courtney Gardner as Jessie and Keisha Yelton-Hunter as Thelma. The two will appear live on Zoom from their respective homes for each performance. Ten percent of the proceeds from ticket sales benefit Sista Afya, a nonprofit that focuses on mental wellness for Black women. There will also be a talkback with a Sista Afya representative at one of the performances (TBA).
