I was reunited with an estranged friend as a result of the 9/11 tragedy. I met Jeanette in 1992; we were both models at the time and we became good friends. We used to club all over the city--especially here, because we liked to reggae. Jeanette moved back to New York in '95. I visited her there quite often; she had an office in the World Trade Center. Then we had a disagreement and went our separate ways. Over the years I'd been meaning to reconnect with her, but days turned into five years that we didn't speak. After the attacks, I didn't know how to get in touch with her to find out if she was OK. A week later I just happened to be listening to a radio show and the DJ read a letter she'd written recounting her experience on that day. I contacted the station, and because it was a syndicated radio show I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone. So I E-mailed a friend of mine in New York who worked for the now-defunct Ananda Lewis Show, and she offered to find Jeanette for me. A month later we reunited on that show. Jeanette's going to visit this summer, and we'll be stopping in here. There was a particular song that we loved that we'll be dancing to--"Rump Shaker" by Wreckx-N-Effect. Perfect song for a reunion, don't you think?
