We were here recently at an after-concert party trying to schmooze a potential guest for our show--a well-known musician from out of town. When I asked him to do a phone interview he said it sounded like a great idea. I was standing there talking to him with my cohost and another girl, and when I turned to speak to another friend this girl said to him, "Hi, I'm a friend of Emily's." She was a little drunk. I was still turned away, standing there but not actively involved in their conversation, when all of a sudden I heard her say loudly to him, "You don't remember me, but 15 years ago you and me were in a stairwell and we got it on." There was the longest pause in the world but he finally said, "Uh, yeah, I remember you." It was obvious that he was lying. He looked at her, looked at me like it was my fault she'd said it, looked at the floor, and finally just turned around and walked away. She immediately started crying, and after about two minutes she abruptly ran out the door. Needless to say, we didn't get the interview.
