Nights of the Blue Rider

This multidisciplinary performing arts festival, hosted by the Pilsen area's Blue Rider Theatre, runs through December 17, with shows most Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 7 PM, as well as children's matinees on selected Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. Most evenings feature two or more artists, with intermissions between each act. Blue Rider Theatre, 1822 S. Halsted, 733-4668. Tickets: $10 a night except where noted in the listings below; $60 for a festival pass (good for all performances); some student and senior discounts available.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3

Tatsu Aoki and Dave Pavkovic and Carmela Rago

An evening of music and performance art: Aoki and Pavkovic perform on bass and "groovy rhythm instruments"; Rago's Pocket Venus consists of three monologues "exploring female identity in contemporary society." 8 PM.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4

Werner Herterick and Donald McGhie and Simon Anderson

Herterick offers a performance piece about a Lithuanian woman emerging from a coma; McGhie and Anderson team up for Panegyric: Bread and Champagne, a performance piece that "celebrates the graveyard of legends." 8 PM.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5

Sara Schnadt, Rhoda Evans, Pamela Strateman, and Gina Lovoi

Schnadt's Hand Me Downs is "a performance excavation of intimacy through cultural codes and artifacts"; Evans's A Kiss for Momma is a multimedia performance piece; Strateman's Separate Desks is "a dance piece about love, loss, and the Argentine tango"; and Lovoi, featured last weekend, returns with an untitled performance piece exploring gender. 7 PM.
