Nine Inch Nails, Street Sweeper Social Club Recommended Early Warnings (Music) Soundboard

When: Fri., May 29, 8 p.m. 2009

Even if you hate Nine Inch Nails from your DNA on out, you have to give Trent Reznor credit: he’s never sold out his audience or himself, and he hasn’t become a grotesque parody of what his early fans believed him to be. His current tour is supposedly his last as Nine Inch Nails (he’s said as much), but NIN’s recorded output has been coming in a steady stream for the past few years, all of it freely shareable and remixable under Creative Commons licenses and some of it flat-out free—a respectable, forward-looking move that stands in stark contrast to the never-say-die, recycle-and-cash-in steez of tourmates Jane’s Addiction (who are sitting out this stop in deference to their Lollapalooza date). Street Sweeper Social Club opens. —Jessica Hopper
