Age: 38

Occupation: Artist

Apartment: Studio with sleeping loft. Rent: $475

Location: Pilsen

Found Objects: Milk crates, a gurney, a plaster horse, a statue of Saint Francis (his grandmother always had one).

Lost somewhere: Polaroid of a stripper taken in Juarez 15 years ago "for art, not sex." Also photographs of cornfields.

Not Pictured: Unfinished paintings in various stages of progress depicting knives stuck in a wall, a vicious rat standing on a fence, a man sleeping under empty birdcages, a bed of roses.

In His Own Words: "I've been looking for the money to get a separate space, a place to escape where I don't have to think about work all the time. I think it's healthier. It's not good for me to see my work all the time."

Art accompanying story in printed newspaper (not available in this archive): photos/Lloyd DeGrane.
