I cannot dispute Kim McCarten's blistering attack ("Breasts Are Not Objects," 5/8/98) on Fred Camper's review of feminist art [April 24]. Having read Mr. Camper's reviews for almost a decade now, I also doubt whether he has ever seen a real live pussy.
However, if you deny him the right to review feminist art because he is male, you would also have to deny women the right to write about masculine art. Since 99 percent of what you'll find in art museums worldwide was made by men and for men, that would tend to limit the scope of female scholarship, wouldn't it?
