Office | Theater Critic's Choice | Chicago Reader

Office's debut CD, Q & A (available through, is the best local release I've heard in a year filled with excellent local releases. The quartet's high-gloss, sexy alt-pop connects from the very first bars of the opening track ("Wound Up") and never lags for the duration of the 12-song disc. That fanny-shaking beat and unfettered chorus ("Let's go to the beach tonight / With a bottle of wine / Baby it's a lot harder to stay in / When you're wound up so tight") give me spring fever in the depths of black slush season. The Changes headline. Sat 12/31, 10 PM, Schubas, 3159 N. Southport, 773-525-2508, $15.
