OMG/HaHaHa | Chicago Reader

Morgan Jon Fox's 2007 video follows a group of Memphis teens and young adults—gay, straight, and transgender—as they go about their daily lives. Part faux webcast, part improv, and part scripted drama, it has a deceptively shapeless feel, its long stretches of tedium and startling bursts of insight reminiscent of the experimental cinema of the Warhol generation. As Fox explores such issues as abortion, sexual abuse, self-esteem, and—oh yes—love, on-screen texts sometimes express what the characters can't (“It's kinda funny how it's cliche to tell someone you care about them” reads one title, while another simply says “I L Y”). 74 min.
